Scent work is a fast growing competitive dog sport that is challenging and rewarding for both the dog and handler. It is an activity that can give confidence to unsure dogs, thoughtfulness to high drive dogs, and is ideally suited to agility dogs recovering from an injury or retired from competition. It is an excellent method of deepening the relationship between you and your dog, as it requires the handler to take a back seat in the game and to listen to and trust their dog.

This is a two-part workshop that will focus on the basics of scent work. The first session will be a 4-hour class on the preparation and storage of scent, introduction to odor, and container searches -- everything you need to know to get started! The second session will occur two weeks later and will focus on trouble shooting and transitioning to more complex hides. This second session is not required. It is being held to help answer any questions that may arise once you try out sniffing at home!

Requirements: Dogs should be under reasonable leash control and have experience with shaping and/or basic obedience commands (sit, down, wait, come). This course is suited to dogs of any age.
